Q1. The radar display on my device (phone, television, app, etc) is not working. Can you help?
A1. Our organization has no insight into third-party display systems. We recommend contacting the device’s vendor or provider.
Q2. I have questions or comments about the National Weather Service’s radar display on the web (radar.weather.gov). Where can I direct those comments?
A2. Our office does not handle the radar.weather.gov display. Please find the contact on this site: https://www.weather.gov/radarfaq
Q3. Why is my local radar down?
A3. In most cases, radars are down for routine or planned maintenance activities. Occasionally, there is an unexpected outage. Please visit your local National Weather Service office’s webpage for any information on an extended radar outage. You can access your local page by entering your location here: https://www.weather.gov/
Q4. I am working on a research project and would like detailed radar data information. Can you help?
A4. Unfortunately, we do not have the staffing availability to assist with individual research projects. However, all of our detailed information is available in the Interface Control Documents (ICDs): https://www.roc.noaa.gov/wsr88d/BuildInfo/Files.aspx
Q5. Are NEXRAD coverage shapefiles available?
A5. No, unfortunately we do not have shapefiles available. The maps available are here: https://www.roc.noaa.gov/wsr88d/Maps.aspx
Q6. How can I find the latitude and longitude of a specific radar?
A6. From this site https://www.roc.noaa.gov/wsr88d/Program/SiteID.aspx, click “Advanced Search.” Then, click “Search” in the lower middle of the next page. In the table, click “Longitude” and “Latitude”, then “Search”. The lat/lon of each radar will be provided in the table.
Q7. I’m a DoD or FAA NEXRAD technician, and I need an account established or password reset to access technical manuals. Can you help?
A7. DoD and FAA NEXRAD Electronic Maintenance Technicians should contact their technical documentation system of record to obtain technical manuals or modification/software notes.
