AWIPS |
 |
The Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) is a technologically advanced
information processing, display, and telecommunications system that is the cornerstone of the
NWS modernization and restructuring.
ROC Software Engineers work closely with AWIPS to maintain the
ICD for weather/radar product data and message formats.

TDWR/SPG |
 |
Terminal Doppler Weather Radars (TDWR) provides weather data in and around
airports for FAA Air Traffic Controllers. The NWS developed the Supplemental
Products Generator (SPG) to provide weather data from the FAA's TDWRs to NWS
forecasters. The data can then be used to complement the data from WSR-88D
systems to provide a backup during outages, fill in coverage gaps, and provide
a second data set to confirm the data from nearby WSR-88D radars.
TDWR/SPG’s software was based on the work for the RPG
and was therefore able to re-use software developed and maintained
by ROC Software Engineering.

NPN |
 |
The NOAA Profiler Network consists (NPN) of 35 Wind Profiler sites
located throughout the country. Wind Profilers are specialized Doppler
Radar systems that use sounding and a coaxial-collinear antenna to
measure vertical profiles of horizontal wind speed and direction.
ROC engineers are utilizing their expertise with the WSR-88D
Doppler Radar system hardware and software to assist NPN engineers in
their effort to bring Wind Profiler equipment into the 21st century.
