Task prcontrol May Fail

The RPG task that generates the Power Removed Control product (prcontrol) may fail if the RPG software has been running for an extended period of time (e.g., 90 to 120 days). This prcontrol task is new to RPG Build 19.0.

To prevent the task from failing, the ROC recommends sites on RPG Build 19.0 to restart the RPG software every 60 to 90 days. From the RPG HCI, open the RPG Control window, select Startup and select Yes to confirm.

How long has the RPG software been running? On RPGA, open a terminal window and enter the following command:

rpg_ps | grep prcontrol

The 5th column of the command output gives the date of the last RPG software restart.

Software Update 19.1, currently in formal testing and scheduled to deploy in late March, 2021, has been updated to automatically restart the prcontrol task if it should fail. Once Software Update 19.1 is installed, this periodic RPG software restart will no longer be needed.
