This is a map of the 142 NEXRAD radar locations in the contiguous United States. The second and third maps are of the radars located in Alaska and Hawaii. To display a window providing a high resolution graphic with the radar line of sight (RLOS) coverage and areal references for individual radars, click upon the plus symbol marking the radar’s location. You will note three colored regions surrounding the radar marker. The legend below provides a description of these RLOS coverage boundaries.

  Radar Line of Sight Legend

The bright yellow region indicates RLOS coverage at or below 130 meters above the ground level, AGL. The blue region is RLOS coverage at or below 160 meters AGL and last is the gold colored region with RLOS coverage at or below 200 meters AGL. Using the three colored regions together one can determine the location of areas with RLOS between 130 and 160 meters and 160 meters to 200 meters above the ground.

DO YOUR OWN PRELIMINARY IMPACT ANALYSIS

You can do your own anonymous analysis of your proposed project’s impact on the NEXRAD radar network by using the new NEXRAD Tool on the FAA’s Obstruction Evaluation (OE/AAA) web site (https://oeaaa.faa.gov/oeaaa/external/portal.jsp)
