Title:

Environmental Winds Data Entry

Last Updated:

October 31, 2001

Applicability:

Operators

Problem: A field site was editing the environmental winds table at the MSCF. On the "Environmental Data Entry" screen, the site entered the PPBB data from a sounding and hit <Enter>, just like the EPSS instructed him to. Nothing happened. The data was not used to update the winds table.

Solution: You must place an "=" sign as the last character of the PPBB data before hitting <Enter>. The EPSS will be updated to include this snag.

Title:

Default Storm Motion Sensitivity

Last Updated:

October 31, 2001

Applicability:

Operators

Problem: A field site was editing the default Storm Motion on the "Environmental Data Editor" screen. When they tried to change the direction by moving the wind barb, the speed went to 99.9!

Solution: The GUI interface for changing the default Storm Motion is very sensitive. In fact, it is nearly impossible to set both the direction and speed using the graphical interface. Instead, click on the "Date Entry" button to display the "Environmental Data Entry" screen. From here you can enter specific direction and speed values.
