Introduction: Snapshot
is a screen capture program. Snapshot allows the user to select the format for
the captured image and then saves those images to disk for future use.
Assumptions:
1. You are logged into the OPUP as opupmgr.
2. There is at least one Terminal window displayed on the
active desktop. If not, execute the following procedure:

At the CDE Front Panel, click on the UP
arrow located above the cpu disk icon.

A Hosts pop-up window will be displayed.

In the Hosts window, click on the This
Host icon.

A Terminal window will be displayed with an
/export/home/opupmgr> prompt.

3. A user-defined directory has been created in which to
store that captured images. If not, execute the following procure:

Place the cursor over an open Terminal Window and click
the LEFT mouse button.

The Terminal window becomes active and a flashing cursor
appears on the command line.

In the Terminal window, at the /export/home/opupmgr>
prompt, type:
mkdir /home/opupmgr/tmp/images <Return>
|
A directory named images is created under the tmp directory.
|
Displaying the Desired Images:
If the images are in the real-time database they will
display on the real-time Product Display GUI. To launch the real-time Product
Display GUI, execute the following procedure:

The real-time Product Display GUI will display. Use this
GUI to display products from the real-time database.

Use this GUI to display and manipulate the products. To
prepare a single image for capture, it is best to enlarge the display pane
full size.

If the images are in the archive database they will only
display on the Archive Product Display GUI. To launch the Archive Product
Display GUI, execute the following procedure:

The Archive Product Display GUI will display. Use this
GUI to display products from the archive database.
Note that there is no spaces between the dashes and archive in these commands.
|
|
Use this GUI to display and manipulate the products. To
prepare a single image for capture, it is best to enlarge the display pane
full size.

Capturing the Displayed Image:
Once the image appears with the desired manipulations,
execute the following procure to capture it with Snapshot:

Place the cursor over desktop background and click the
RIGHT mouse button.
|
The Workspace Menu popup window is displayed.
|
|
2.
|
From the Workspace Menu, place the cursor over the
Applications option and click the LEFT mouse button.

The Applications popup window is displayed.
|

|
From the Applications popup window, place the cursor over
the Snapshot option and click the LEFT mouse button.
|
The Image Viewer -Shapshot window opens along with a blank
Image Viewer - (None) window below.
|
|
Note: It may be
make things easier if you move the Image Viewer windows off to the side.
|
|
4.
|
In the Image Viewer -Snapshot window select the "Hide
Window During Capture" box, then place the cursor over the "Snap"
button (see example blow) and click the LEFT mouse button.
|
The cursor turns into crosshairs.
|
|

|
5.
|
Place the crosshair cursor over image to capture and click
the LEFT mouse button.
|
After a few seconds the captured image is displayed in
image is captured in a Image Viewer- Untitled window.
|

|
In the Image Viewer - Untitled window Select "Save
As" from the "File" drop-down menu.
|
Image Viewer -Save As window opens (see example below.

Place the cursor in the “Enter path or folder name:” edit
window and click the LEFT mouse button.

This activates the edit field.

Edit the entry to read:
/export/home/opupmgr/tmp/images/

Select the TIFF option in the “File Format:” window.
|
The selects the TIF format for the new image file.
|
|

Enter a file name for the new file (see example above).
Note: It is best to include the “.tif ” extension to the file name
here.

Names the image file.
|
|

|
Place the cursor over the OK button and click the
LEFT mouse button.
|
This action saves the captured image and closes the Image
Viewer -Save As window.
|
|
12.
|
In the Image Viewer window Select "Exit" from
the "File" drop-down menu.
|
This closes the Snapshot Image Viewer.
|
|
Repeat this
procedure for each required image.
