Identified Problem When Operating In VCP-12

The ROC has received calls from the field that describe an alarm condition at the RPG while operating in VCP-12 due to task failures. The tasks that fail create the Hi Resolution VIL (hiresvil) and Hi Resolution Enhanced Echo Top (hreseet) products. Usually, the tasks fail because the PRF’s at 6.4 degrees have different values in the three sectors.

To help ensure that these tasks do not fail, the operator should leave Auto PRF on and avoid editing the PRF table while in VCP-12.

If you see an alarm condition at the RPG, you need to verify that the alarm exists because of these two task failures. You can do this by:

  1. At the MSCF: Click on the Status box on the RPG icon.
  2. Click on the Task Failure box under Maintenance Required.
  3. See if hiresvil and/or hireseet are present.

If these tasks are listed as failed, all tasks need to be restarted when weather permits. The failure of the tasks does not affect the operation of the RPG any other products that the RPG creates.

If Auto PRF is on and you have not made any edits to the VCP-12 PRF table, and the task still fail, please call the Hotline with this information.

The problem with these tasks have been identified and will be corrected in RPG Build 6. Build 6 should be fielded in September, 2004.
