Mandatory UCP GDCL Authorized Changes for all RPG Sites
The National Weather Service communications system is connected to the NEXRAD
WSR-88D network via a dedicated PUES communications line. The NEXRAD RPG
generates specific products that are sent out on this line. One of the products generated
is Supplemental Precipitation Data (SPD). The requirement for the SPD product to be
transmitted to the National Weather Service communications system has been removed,
so the purpose of this fax is to remind/notify all RPG sites to modify their Generation and
Distribution Control Lists (GDCLs) (current and both Adaptation GDCL A and B Lists) to
prevent the SPD product from being transmitted to the PUES port (the product is causing
problems for the communications system when sent). Following are specific instructions
to make the necessary changes:
- From the UCP Main Menu type: AD,******,G,A (where ****** is the first level
password). This command will display Adaptation GDCL List A.
- Press the Page Forward Key (F6) until you get to page 9 of 10.
- Enter the command M,67 (this will move line 67 to the edit line).
- Press the <Tab> Key until the cursor is in the PUES column.
- If there is a "1" in this column, press the space bar to erase it. If this field is blank, it
is correct and does not need modification.
- Press the <Return> key and type E, then press <Return> again.
Press the <F1> Key to get back to the UCP Main Menu.
- Repeat steps 1-6, except replace "A" with "B": AD,******,G,B (where ****** is
the first level password). This command will display Adaptation GDCL List B.
- Repeat steps 1-6 again, this time for the current GDCL: G. This displays the current
GDCL List for editing.
The original change was outlined in the document:

Adaptable Parameters
This Technical Order Page Supplement (TOPS), dated 12/17/96, needs to be reviewed by
each site to ensure that their RPG is in compliance with it. If your site needs a copy of
the TOPS, or has any related questions, please don't hesitate to call the Hotline.
